B.L.O.C.K.S Building Lasting Opportunities through Choice Knowledge and Skills is a nonprofit agency that assists individuals with employment barriers or challenges in securing and maintaining stable employment.
Problem Statement
A poor youthful decision or a past conviction should not mean a life-sentence of poverty and disenfranchisement. Many individuals believe they cannot move past their current situation legally or even obtain quality employment because of their past.
Young adults
We provide jobs and resources to out of school youth (18-24 years old). Train for good-paying in-demand jobs. Skill training for individuals who may have been involved in the criminal justice system OR who have no High School Diploma/GED with an interest in jobs in manufacturing, construction, and culinary/hospitality, automotive and small engine repair.
Convictions and backgrounds
B.L.O.C.K.S. focus is to develop and then enhance skills that help create opportunities that are sustainable which will help to reduce social and economic barriers and bridge the gaps of poverty. We provide jobs and careers for individuals who are or have been involved in the criminal justice system.
PROCESS
Refer the individual to the appropriate resources for Basic Life skills, interview skills, resume writing, finance management.
Long Term Goal
Assist individuals in becoming productive, contributing members of the community. Ensure that individuals reach their full potential despite their past.
